Ready, set, go…
Are EV batteries safe?
In short, YES! Electric vehicle (EV) batteries undergo extensive testing to ensure safety. In fact, 99.9% of EV batteries meet rigorous safety standards set by international regulatory bodies before being approved for use in vehicles.
EVs have a 0.03% chance of experiencing a battery-related fire, compared to 1.5% for internal combustion engine vehicles. Studies by the National Fire Protection Association reveal that the likelihood of a fire in an electric vehicle is 10 times lower than in gasoline-powered cars.
While the risks are minimal, the thermal runaway phenomenon can still pose a potential hazard. This occurs when battery cells overheat, leading to a chain reaction that can result in fire. However, with new technologies like SAFIRE, which uses a hybrid-state electrolyte that solidifies on impact, the risks of such incidents are being drastically reduced.
What’s new?
With 80% renewable electricity, manufacturing a battery electric vehicle (BEV) cuts emissions by over 25% during production and 84% during driving, achieving a total reduction of over 60% compared to current BEVs.

As regulatory pressure for carbon neutrality and consumer demand for sustainability increase, electric vehicles (EVs) are projected to retain higher resale values than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Well-maintained light-duty EVs could maintain up to 70% of their original value after five years, reflecting the shift toward environmentally friendly transportation.
