Nissan says it has reached a key milestone in its solid-state battery program, stacking multiple layers into a working EV prototype that meets performance targets. The company is still aiming for a 2028 launch of its first production EV using the technology, which is expected to bring faster charging, higher energy density, and improved safety compared to today’s lithium-ion batteries.
US wind power saw a strong comeback in 2025 with 8.2 GW of new installations, and momentum is expected to continue into 2026 with forecasts reaching around 11 GW of new capacity. Much of the pipeline is already under construction or nearing completion, but the sector still faces challenges from permitting delays, rising costs, and regulatory bottlenecks.
Hyundai revealed the IONIQ 3, a compact electric hatch offering up to 308 miles of range and fast charging in about 30 minutes. It debuts the new Pleos Connect infotainment system and focuses on efficiency, affordability, and improved interior space despite its small footprint.
Mercedes unveiled its first fully electric C-Class, offering up to 473 miles of range and ultra-fast charging that can add around 200 miles in 10 minutes. The dual-motor setup produces 482 hp, while the interior features Hyperscreen tech, luxury materials, and S-Class-level comfort.
Volkswagen is transforming the Jetta name into a new entry-level EV SUV brand for China, starting with the Jetta X concept. The model targets sub-$25K pricing and will expand into multiple EV and hybrid models as VW strengthens its position in China’s competitive EV market.
Kia has reduced EV4 prices by more than $10,000 in some European markets following the launch of Volkswagen’s updated ID.3 Neo. The EV4 now starts around €28K while still offering strong range, highlighting increasing price pressure in the entry-level EV segment.
Tesla says the next-generation Roadster could finally be unveiled soon, nearly nine years after its original debut, but production is still expected for 2027–2028. Despite extreme performance claims like sub-2-second acceleration and 600+ miles of range, the vehicle remains unproven and heavily delayed.
