🔌 Can you get electric shock while charging your EV?

As EV ownership grows, it's important for drivers to be aware of electric shock risks while charging. Though rare, shocks can occur from damaged equipment, poor grounding, water exposure, static electricity, or human error. Increased awareness has emerged as more drivers share their experiences. To stay safe, use certified, well-installed charging equipment, check cables for damage, and avoid charging in heavy rain. Simple precautions like wearing rubber-soled shoes can help.

⚖️ China files WTO complaint against EU’s tariffs on EVs?

China has filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) over the European Union's new tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, calling them “trade protectionism.” The tariffs, which add 35% on top of the standard 10% import tax, mainly target Chinese manufacturers like SAIC and Geely. China’s Ministry of Commerce argues that the EU’s decision is unfounded and unfairly harms Chinese EV producers to shield European companies.

🚙 Honda Prologue gets a strong entry in the U.S. electric SUV market

Honda's first electric SUV, the Prologue, has quickly become a top seller in the U.S., ranking fifth among EVs with over 18,000 units sold by October 2024. Built on GM’s Ultium platform, it offers up to 296 miles of range, competitive performance, and advanced tech, including Google integration, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Starting at $47,400 (or potentially under $40,000 with tax credits), the Prologue attracts budget-conscious buyers. Its popularity underscores Honda’s commitment to the growing EV market in the U.S.

⚠️ Tesla enhances safety with new blind spot warning system update

Tesla’s latest software update introduces a new blind spot warning feature aimed at preventing accidents caused by accidental door openings in high-traffic areas. The system detects approaching vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians, triggering visual and audio alerts, and temporarily locking the door if an object is nearby. This enhancement reduces the risk of collisions, particularly in urban environments, by preventing doors from opening into passing traffic.

🔥 GM recalls Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV models for possible fire risk

General Motors has issued a recall for 88 Chevrolet Bolt EVs and 19 Bolt EUVs from the 2020-2022 model years due to a software malfunction that may fail to detect battery defects, which could pose a fire risk. The issue was identified following a customer complaint about a charging problem in a 2022 Bolt EUV, with GM tracing the cause to a glitch in the programming tool. Affected owners are advised to set a 90% charge limit, avoid draining the battery below 70 miles, and charge outside until dealerships can reinstall the software.

Average people cannot afford these vehicles and we have a lot of work to do to make them more affordable....That’s the one that keeps me up at night.
