BMW’s new iX3 arrives in Canada with up to 698 km of range and a starting price of $75,900 CAD. The SUV also supports up to 400 kW fast charging, putting it among the fastest-charging mainstream EVs in its class. Efficiency gains come from BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive system and improved aerodynamics, positioning it as a serious long-range competitor.

The Lexus TZ is a new 3-row electric SUV with up to 300 miles of range and 420 hp. It focuses heavily on luxury with lounge-style seating and premium audio. However, it only supports 150 kW charging and notably lacks a front trunk, putting it behind rivals like the IONIQ 9 and EX90 in practicality and charging speed.

The 2026 Model Y became the first vehicle to pass NHTSA’s updated ADAS tests. While Tesla is being highlighted, the systems tested are basic features already common across the industry. At the same time, Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system remains under active investigation, creating tension between “passing safety tests” and ongoing regulatory concerns.

The Chevy Spark EUV has become the best-selling electric SUV in Brazil, driven by its low price and 220-mile range. Priced around $32,000, it has quickly gained traction in the affordable EV segment. GM’s investment in local production helped scale availability, making it one of the strongest EV launches in emerging markets.

The 2026 Nissan Ariya introduces Google built-in, improved ProPILOT driver assistance, and Vehicle-to-Load capability. It also adds better ride comfort and updated interior tech, including remote vehicle control through the Nissan app. Fast charging remains capped at 130 kW, but usability improvements make it more competitive.

The VW ID.Buzz is now being heavily discounted in the US, with some dealers listing prices under $50,000. Early hype led to inflated markups above $100K, but weak demand and inventory pressure have reversed pricing. Despite solid design appeal, limited range and high competition have slowed sales momentum.

Tesla’s 4680 battery cells are still underperforming compared to supplier packs, with lower energy density, slower charging, and reduced range in some configurations. In some cases, vehicles using 4680 packs show less range than older LG or Panasonic-based packs, raising concerns about Tesla’s in-house battery strategy.
